SmartWing is a compact 5-axis multi-articulated robot designed by FUJI Corporation, characterized by its slim structure and the absence of teaching requirements.
ARRK was responsible for the exterior cover design of FUJI Corporation’s show model of the multi-articulated robot SmartWing. Subsequently, the design evolved into the mass production model.
SHOW MODEL
When developing the vertical multi-articulated robot, FUJI Corporation aimed to achieve a distinctive design with a sleek form that set it apart from competitors. ARRK proposed a design featuring organic curves with subtle edges and incorporated the structural elements into the overall design without full coverage.
The design was well-received as it perfectly suited the product name, SmartWing. FUJI Corporation appreciated ARRK’s quick response and design sensibility.

Mass Production Model
Following the positive reception at the show, the development transitioned to the mass production model. In response to the request for a design that continued the style of the show model for the production structure, ARRK suggested a minimalistic approach with unique FUJI Corporation product identity that set it apart from competitors.
The design considered cost benefits and ease of assembly while maintaining a lightweight feel by partially exposing the structural components. After two rounds of prototyping, it was successfully productized.
